Coaches

Joe has been coaching hockey for the last 16 years. Before coaching, Joe played Tier 1 youth hockey for the Junior Titans and Mercer Chiefs where he was captain of a nationally ranked U18AAA team. He went on to play DII club for Montclair State University for two years before giving it up for a coaching job at Morristown High School. He spent 6 years coaching JV hockey for Morristown and Westfield. Joe is now entering his 10th season as head varsity coach and 13th season in the Westfield program. In 2018, Joe earned the honors of NJIIHL Coach of the Year. He has coached the boys to a to Union County Tournament Championship in 2018, 2022, & 2024 and a McInnis Cup Championship in 2019, 2022, & 2024, while also earning a McInnis League Championship in 2021. He has led the boys to 5 consecutive Public State Semifinals and an overall record of 142-66-8. Joe is a Physical Education teacher in Cranford and has earned his master’s degree in Exercise Science. He is also a NASM certified personal trainer and owner of Top Shelf Training LLC. 

Coach Brendan Hickey is WHS' JV1 head coach and Varsity asst coach. He played youth hockey for both Cranford Hockey Club and Devils Youth Hockey. Coach Hickey was a 4 year varsity hockey player for Westfield High School and led the team as captain for 2 years. He has coached high school hockey and lacrosse for over 10 years. He has been an elementary school teacher for over ten years as well and currently teaches 3rd grade at McKinley School in Westfield. Coach Hickey also serves as a coach for Union Thunder, WHS lacrosse and the Westfield Lacrosse Club.

This is Coach Huhn's second season as head coach of the JV2 team and Goalie coach at Westfield HS. Chris was a goalie for Brick Memorial HS for 4 years and then went on to play another 4 years for The College of New Jersey. Chris has been a Biology teacher at WHS for 4 years and currently teaches freshmen and sophomores.
